Introduction
Our Client, a leader in the Retail Industry, is seeking to appoint an experienced Distribution Centre Operations Liaison to join their dynamic team in Germiston.
The Distribution Centre Operations Liaison acts as the on-site representative within the Distribution Centres. This role is responsible for ensuring the seamless handover, processing, and dispatch of all orders for last mile delivery. The Distribution Centre Operations Liaison ensures operational efficiency, data accuracy, and close collaboration between the CDS team at the RDC, DC Operations, and the driver fleet.
Duties & Responsibilities
Order Management and Handover
- Receive and verify all orders allocated from the RDC.
- Ensure accuracy of order data (scanning, waybills correspondence to manifests, assignment to driver confirmation and parcel consignment quantity per order).
- Resolve discrepancies or missing orders in real-time with CDS teams.
Dispatch Coordination
- Prepare and organize orders for driver handover according to route plans.
- Ensure timely dispatch of drivers to meet delivery waves.
- Provide drivers with correct parcels, waybills, and instructions.
Communication & Liaison
- Act as the first point of contact between the distribution site and the RDC.
- Daily reporting and updates on order volumes, and exceptions.
- Liaise with driver partners to resolve loading, routing, or order-related issues.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure all orders meet the distribution site’s delivery standards before dispatch.
- Follow health & safety and security procedures within the RDC.
- Escalate any risk, theft, or compliance concerns promptly.
Performance Monitoring
- Track and report on KPIs such as handover accuracy, dispatch timing, and exceptions.
- Suggest process improvements to enhance efficiency and customer experience.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Matric (Grade 12).
- Previous experience in logistics, distribution, or last-mile delivery- advantageous.
- Understanding of warehouse and or RDC operations- advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Problem-solving mindset with initiative to resolve issues independently.
- Reliable, punctual, and disciplined.
- Tech-savvy (comfortable with apps, scanning devices, and reporting tools).
