Introduction
Our Client, a leader in the FMCG and Manufacturing Industry, is seeking to appoint an experienced Health and Safety Officer to join their dynamic team in Vereeniging (Vaal Triangle) on a 3-month Contract basis. The ideal candidate is proactive and detail-oriented to ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and legal requirements within a fast-paced FMCG or manufacturing environment.
Applicants must reside in and around Vereeniging.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with OHS Act, company policies, and safety standards.
- Conduct safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and implement corrective actions.
- Facilitate safety training, toolbox talks, and employee awareness programmes.
- Maintain health and safety records, registers, and reports.
- Monitor contractor compliance and site safety requirements.
- Ensure PPE availability, usage, and compliance.
- Support emergency preparedness, response procedures, and compliance audits.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- National Diploma or Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
- Minimum 2 to 5 years’ Health and Safety experience in FMCG, manufacturing, or industrial environments.
- Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and related regulations.
- Experience conducting risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety reporting systems.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- SAMTRAC, NOSA, or equivalent Health and Safety qualification advantageous.
Package & Remuneration
R20 000 (TCTC) per month.
